Certification Program

ACI will grant certification only to those applicants who meet both of the following requirements:

  1. A passing grade on the ACI written examination; and
  2. Successful completion of the ACI performance examination.

A two-day program is offered. The morning of the first day consists of general concrete instruction. You will not be trained to pass the written test during this period. You must study your workbook prior to taking the written examination. Lunch is provided. A hands-on demonstration will be conducted the afternoon of the first day. Applicants are encouraged to observe and ask questions during this period.

The second day starts with the written examination. The one-hour written examination is "closed book" and consists of 55 multiple choice questions. There are five (5) to ten (10) questions on each of the ASTM Standards. To pass the written examination, both of the following conditions must be met: (a) at least 60% correct for each of the required standards; and (b) a minimum score of 70% overall.

After completion of the written examination, applicants will take the performance examination in the order they completed the written exam. The performance examination is also "closed book" and requires actual demonstration of six of the required ASTM Standards plus a verbal description of Sampling, ASTM C 172. The examinee is judged on his/her ability to correctly perform or describe all of the required procedures for each standard.

***Applicants should wear work attire.***

Registration is limited to the first 30 applicants. It is important to register as early as possible to have adequate time to receive and study the materials prior to the examination. To RESERVE your place in the program, please fax your registration form to 435-882-0592 or

E-mail Kristin

To GUARANTEE your place, payment must be received at least two weeks prior to the first day of the program. Payment may be made by check, money order, or credit card.

Recertification is necessary every five (5) years, and requires successful completion of both the written and performance examinations. Recertification applicants must have a current version of the workbook.

What to Bring

  1. a non-programmable calculator
  2. notepaper
  3. a #2 lead pencil
  4. a highlighter
  5. the workbook you received when you registered for the class.

Cancellations

Cancellations received seven days in advance may cancel and receive one-half of my fee back, or may reschedule at no extra charge for a future class. Another person may take your place if you are unable to attend. If you do not notify ACI and do not show up to the scheduled class, you will receive no money back. If you contact ACI late and wish to reschedule for the next class, there will be a $50.00 rescheduling fee. All notifications must be submitted in writing.
